The Story behind A & G Nurseries

A & G Nurseries, Inc. roots began in 1974 as Ades Floral Farm with the partnership between Charles Ades and Bill Gish in the city of Encinitas, CA. At that time the company was growing both cut flowers and potted plants. The goal in mind was to slowly convert the cut production to greenhouse potted plant production. In 1975, they changed the name to Ades & Gish Nurseries, Inc. and the corporation was born.

Over the years the corporation grew in size and began adding more greenhouses in the Encinitas area. In 1993, Charles Ades purchased the remain stock from Bill Gish but decided to keep the name Ades & Gish Nurseries, Inc since it had developed a reputation of being a quality grower of indoor blooming and foliage plants throughout the industry.

In 1996, Charles' son Darrell Ades joined the company full-time after graduating from Cal Poly Pomona with his bachelor degree in Ornamental Horticulture.

In 2000, it was decided that Ades & Gish Nurseries needed to consolidate it's satellite greenhouses to one large greenhouse growing operation. So in 2001, a property in San Marcos, CA was purchased and the slow migration of closing the satellite greenhouses and moving the production to the San Marcos, CA was commencing. In addition to this in 2001, Darrell Ades began running the entire operation. By 2008, the entire operation was consolidated to the one facility in San Marcos, CA. This allowed Ades & Gish Nurseries to react quicker to the customers needs as well as keeping a closer eye on production to continue to improve the quality of plant product.

In 2010, Ades & Gish Nurseries changed the name to A & G Nurseries, Inc. with the continued effort of creating quality plants with great service.
